Institution Overview

Miles Community College was established as the first community college in the state of Montana in 1939 and has been a pioneer in education ever since. Offering quality educational programs at an exceptional value, we truly believe that our students can start here and go anywhere.

We care about student success at MCC - so much so that we've made it central to our mission and strategic vision. You're more than just a number here, and we pride ourselves on providing our students with a tight-knit network of support, with the tools you need to reach your goals, both in education and in life. Our small campus size allows you to get to know your classmates, teammates, and peers, as well as our passionate and dedicated faculty and staff.

Highlights

  • Free 2 Explore is MCC’s free dual enrollment program. High school students can take their first two dual enrollment classes free, regardless of the number of credits. This applies to Pioneer Express courses (early start on-campus or online classes), or concurrent enrollment classes taught at partner high schools. Online classes fill VERY quickly, so students are encouraged to not wait until the last minute! MCC enrolled provided over 200 high school students with college credits last year!
  • MCC has partnered with several other institutions to provide degree completion options without having to leave Miles City! Healthcare partnerships for Radiologic Technology and Medical Laboratory Technology allow students to start at MCC, finish their degree from our partner institution, and complete clinicals at eastern Montana health care facilities. Four-year degrees in Business, Social Work, and now Education can be completed via remote and online learning through our transfer agreements.
  • MCC recently celebrated five years since the opening of the Ag Advancement Center, home for Agriculture, Animal Science, Livestock Management, Equine Studies, and related programs, as well as an indoor practice and competition arena for the MCC Rodeo team, and the Workforce Readiness Center, home of our Commercial Driver’s License and Basic Transportation Technology programs.

Important Things To Know

  • Miles Community College participates in statewide transfer initiatives, such as the common course numbering process, ensuring the transferability of all courses. Students graduating with an AA or AS are deemed to have met all lower division general education requirements upon transfer to all public four-year colleges or universities in Montana. Similar transfer policies exist for those transferring out of state. Many AA/AS degrees with specific emphases are modeled after BA/BS programs around the state, further streamlining the transfer process.
  • Open admission policy, meaning students may apply at any time and need only a high school diploma or high school equivalency credential to gain admission. ACT/SAT not required.
  • The Nursing Program application deadline is June 1st. Admission is based primarily on a selective GPA from the required pre-requisite courses and scores on the Kaplan entrance exam (which will be offered on campus in April). A ‘B-‘ or higher is required for all coursework, including pre-requisites and general education courses.
  • This year we will use a new, online scholarship application platform – the application is open now!
