Campus Orientation

MSU Billings and City College will host registration sessions for incoming Fall 2027 freshman starting in April and going through August. During these registration sessions students will learn how to access their electronic records, visit about their financial aid status, learn key next steps in preparing for college and work with advisors in developing a plan of study and registering for their fall courses. A two-day orientation will be held towards the end of summer to help get students oriented to both campuses; learning about key student and academic support services and how to get involved on campus and in our community.

Highlights

  • City College is continuously working in utilizing real world tools/resources in our classrooms and labs, to help our students be prepared for their careers. Through our Perkins grant and additional funding sources this year we are adding a weather meter and thermal imagine camera for the fire science program, a new simulator for welding- zspace, and some additional tools for our automotive students to work with electric vehicles.
  • We recently updated our Instrument & Electrical and Process Plant programs to have the same courses in the first year, which allows students to explore both programs before determining which path they want to pursue. Also, if they want both AAS degrees, they would be able to do so in 3 years.

Important Things To Know

  • *Many of our industry and transportation programs do require students to purchase tools – lists are available on our website along with vendors (many of whom give discounts to college students).
  • *Our City College graduates are filling the needs within our great state of Montana, 89% of our 2025 graduates that responded to our survey are working in Montana! The average starting pay (6 months post graduation) for City College graduates was $56,187.
